With the South East Melbourne Development League program, we believe every player can achieve their dreams with the right guidance and hard work. Our program is specifically designed as a pathway from domestic to representative level competition, tailored for ambitious young players aiming to excel in Victoria's premier junior basketball league — the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL).
Coaching & Development
Aligned with SEM Magic's philosophy of fundamental development and our commitment to offering excellence to all members, our program is led by Player & Coach Development Manager, Luke Pusey.
With over a decade of experience as a coach, administrator, and player, Luke brings a wealth of expertise, including:

✨ Basketball Victoria High Performance programs
✨ 4+ years playing BIG V
✨ Currently playing with the Western Port Steelers Big V program.
✨ Former Competitions Manager/Interim General Manager at Chelsea Basketball Association.
Program Overview
D-League is designed to elevate your game, providing a comprehensive platform to develop skills and realize your potential. The program covers a wide range of individual and team-based concepts and fundamentals:
🏀 Fundamental Skills: Refine your foundation in ball handling, passing, shooting, rebounding, and defending.
🏀 Motion Offense: Master modern basketball with Read & React Motion Offensive principles, essential for seamless integration into any team or competition.
🏀 Team Defense: Impact the game both on and off the ball, from guarding to contesting shots, pressuring passes, defending dribble penetration, and rebounding.
Player Eligibility
D-League is a natural extension of SEM Magic's club squad training program and play principles, perfect for serious players looking to elevate their game.
While it complements SEM Magic, the program is open to all domestic-level players within the age range.
Players should have a minimum of 3 seasons of domestic league experience, a strong understanding of the game, and a readiness to elevate their work ethic.
